Amy Wike - NEW!
Amy Wike is a watercolor and illustration artist based in Portland, Oregon. Born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Pewaukee, WI, Amy earned her BSBA at the University of South Carolina, before moving to Washington DC to pursue a career in the arts. It was there, while working in the communications department of a museum, that she began exploring the “visual representations of the intricacies of conveying information.” She enjoys playing with the ideas of translation, interpretation, and the complexities of symbols and language.
Amy believes that “articulating elaborate ideas through bright colors and welcoming, cheeky visuals, create an access point for otherwise intimidating concepts.” The guiding values behind her art—approachability, connection, and investigating the ways we observe, learn, and perceive—are present in everything she creates.
Recently joining our Allport roster of Artists, Amy’s TINY series is the perfect complement to our growing collection of Regional Designs. Inspired by the many places she’s lived thus far, Amy’s depictions of vistas, icons, and landmarks are vibrant, unique, charming, and sure to be top-sellers!
A teacher, as well as a maker of art, Amy offers regular Intro to Watercolor workshops to local audiences when not vending at maker markets around town. She was the recipient of a Regional Arts and Culture grant in 2021 and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Artist Fellowship in 2020. Amy is a lifelong knitter, a lover of cats, and a connoisseur of Tombstone frozen pizza.
